Common faults & fixes

Won't start / fuel pump doesn't prime (BS6)

Usually a relay or dirty connector under the seat. Listen for the relay click, clean the contacts, swap the fuel-pump and side-stand relays to test, and replace the faulty one. [forum]

Stalls when you click into gear

Often the side-stand switch or its connector. Check the switch and wiring (and the side-stand relay) before anything bigger. [ADVrider]

Rusty spokes and fasteners

Riders often mention this on bikes used through UK winters. Rinse off road salt, dry it, and use a light protective spray. Check spoke tension regularly.

Rider reports, not official. If in doubt, see your dealer.

Handy kit

Paddock stand, torque wrench and chain lube make most of these jobs easy. Look for used ones first on Himmy Swap, or buy new: SportsBikeShop · Amazon. Affiliate links: we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
